Friends, a happy announcement,
My poem ‘The Prefect of Judaea’ has been awarded first place in this year’s Catholic Literary Arts Sacred Poetry Contest. It is an ekphrastic response to Mihály Munkácsy’s portrayal of Christ standing before Pilate. (The painting is gigantic btw, roughly 13x20 feet.)
The other winning entries feature Tanner’s Annunciation and Piotr Stachiewicz’s Three Holy Kings. You can read them all here with commentary by judge Ryan Wilson.
There will be a reading with all the finalists next Tuesday May 7 at 8pm ET, open to the public with a free registration. A great event for those interested in the intersection of faith and culture.
Congrats, James! Wish I could be there for the reading. You’ll read it to us at the next DPS i hope :)
